Online Safety

For both parents and kids! Interactive, age-appropriate games & videos to teach kids to be safe both online and offline. Short overviews of common online issues, with tips for protecting your children and discussing internet safety with them.

Appropriate Internet Use  -Parenting “wired” kids can be difficult, especially if you didn’t grow up with the same technologies. These resources can help.

Bullying Prevention

Reducing Peer Aggression–   parent guide to helping reduce peer aggression, no matter whether your child is the victim, aggressor, or a bystander

Cyberbullying Prevention–   specific steps parents can take with their children to prevent cyberbullying

StopBullying.gov–   short, easy-to-read info about identifying, preventing, and responding to bullying

KnowBullying– download this app to your phone so when the need arises, you’ll have anti-bullying strategies, tips, conversation starters, and reminders available to help your children

Financial Help/Assistance

Free/Reduced School Lunches – Pick up an application from the main office.

School Supplies and Fees – Community members provide a limited amount of school supplies to give to students who need them (contact your student’s school counselor).

Transportation – SoonerRide provides free transportation to and from medical and counseling appointments covered by SoonerCare.  Cherokee Strip Transit provides transportation to the public Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm. Call (580) 572-9001 to schedule a ride. Fees are $1.50/stop in Perry, and out of town transportation is based on mileage.

ACT/SAT Exam Fees – Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunches also qualify for 2 fee waivers for each of the college entrance exams (contact your student’s school counselor).

College Application Fees – Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunches may also qualify for an application fee wavier at many colleges universities.  You can find information on the universities website.

Clothing & Household Items  – Operation Blessing provides free clothing, furniture, household items, and sports equipment to Perry families at 803 Market in Perry. Contact Esther Norman at (580) 336-3313 for more information.

Perry Ministerial Alliance – Provides assistance with utilities, rent, food, medicine, emergency services, and other community needs. Contact First Church of the Nazarene at (580) 336-2724 or 829 Jackson St in Perry for more information.

Eyeglasses – The Perry Lions Club provides financial assistance of up to $75 for students who are on Soonercare to receive eyeglasses (contact your student’s school counselor).

Soup Kitchen – Free meal at First Methodist Church every Thursday from 5:30-6:30pm at 727 Elm St in Perry.

Summer Camp – Camp Crossway Inc is a non-profit faith-based summer camp in Pawnee County for Kindergarteners through 12th graders. Minimal or no cost to participants. Day Camps and Overnight Camps available. 918-399-8880.

2-1-1 – Easily search for services near you including assistance with food, utilities, housing, medical/dental care, transportation, and holiday gifts. You can call “211” or search the online database.

Parenting Help

Solutions to Common Problems – short articles (sorted by age group) to help parents address many common issues with children

Child Development & Behavior Topics – information on just about every issue parents may come across (sorted alphabetically)

Coping with Emotions – Very short articles on helping children cope with distressing emotions and behaviors.
